Note: Best known as the first female author to make abolition her primary subject. Drew attention at eighteen when her poem "The Slave Ship" was published. Wrote and worked as an editor for the abolitionist journal The Genius of Universal Emancipation. Established the Logan Female Anti-Slavery Society alongside Laura Smith Haviland in 1832.
